Hey, Folks,
Just wanted to draw your attention to Neil Clarke’s site, Save the Semiprozine Hugo (http://savesemiprozine.org/2009/05/04/semiprozine-news/). He is helping to draw attention to an endangered species close to my heart, namely semi-pro genre magazines (kinda exactly like this one). Every day seems to bring news of another magazine failing. If our own field doesn’t want to support us and keep us around, what hope do any of us have?
Meanwhile, this little engine that Can and Will is chugging along. Issue #108 is undergoing assembly for the J-A-S quarter. Our lead story comes from an honored prior contributor, Mr. Scott Edelman. It also features the second half of our interview with Mr. Peter Beagle, specifically his advice to other writers. These are accompanied by our usual quality assortment of sf, fantasy, horror, poetry, and artwork to enthrall and entertain. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll be pleased and, if you aren’t yet, now’s the time to sign up!
Finally, on a personal note, “Witch Way to the Mall?” (ed., Esther Friesner) has been released by Baen Books and is available at Amazon.com and a book seller near you. It features one of my stories, “The Darren,” along with other tales from a great variety of authors about witches in suburbia. Pick it up for a fun, poolside read.
