Stephen M. Wilson has died

Please join us in extending our condolences to the family and friends of poet Stephen M. Wilson, who passed away last month.

Stephen was the poetry editor for Abyss & Apex and also edited the speculative poetry Twitterzine microcosms and San Joaquin Delta College’s literary magazine, Artifact. Stephen also spent more than three years as the poetry editor for Doorways Magazine and served as co-editor of the Science Fiction Poetry Association’s annual Dwarf Stars Award anthology. Several of his poems were nominated throughout the years for the Rhysling Award and a handful for the Dwarf Stars Award (including a win in 2011). Dark Duets, his joint work with our poetry editor, Linda Addison, was one of his most recent works and stands as a testament to his talent.

I am in shock about Steve’s death! I used to see him at conventions, and he was always very sweet. My deep sympathy to his family and friends.

I am very sorry to hear of Stephen’s death–even now, over a year later. I only had contact with him in the last two years of his life, when he edited Dwarf Stars and included my work, and then later for an anthology of poems, Poems without Apologies, which will never be completed.

I extended my belated condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by many. SBK
